The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties (CFHOC) awarded a $15,000 check to the Project Fibonacci Foundation (PFF) during its recent round of equity grant awards. This funding will be instrumental in financially supporting local underserved and underrepresented students to attend the 6th Annual STEAM Leadership Conference, which will take place August 4-10, 2024, at Griffiss Park in Rome, NY.

The equity grant round is a critical component of the Community Foundation’s long-term strategy to address the fundamental causes of systemic racism and socioeconomic inequity impacting historically marginalized populations within Herkimer and Oneida counties. This initiative underscores the Foundation’s commitment to fostering equitable opportunities for all community members, particularly those who have been historically underserved.

The Community Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of PFF and its transformative vision of Enriched STEAM Communities Driving a Modern Renaissance. This latest grant will enable PFF to continue its mission of making STEAM leadership education accessible to students regardless of their financial background with a focus on nontraditional STEM individuals to expand the STEM workforce. PFF is actively fundraising to support the tuition of students, ensuring that every student can benefit from this unique and impactful conference experience.

“We are thrilled to receive this generous grant from the Community Foundation,” said Pam Mandryck, part of the STEM Community Outreach Team at ANDRO Computational Solutions, LLC and PFF volunteer. She added, “This funding will empower local students to engage in STEAM education and leadership development, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.”
